Esther retired as a nurse administrator at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, Los Angeles, California in January 2019. She has over thirty years of experience in clinical practice, academia, program development and healthcare administration. While working in the clinical settings, Esther taught at Los Angeles Community College, School of Nursing for five years where she taught Medical/Surgical Nursing, Leadership, and Management classes. Esther developed an NCLEX preparation program for the school, which improved the passing rate of the school from 69% to over 93% for the years she taught at the school. Esther also served as the director of certified nursing and home health aides (CNA/HHA) programs and developed a program which helped to reinstate the CNA/HHA programs to the school, with board passing rate over 95% for four years.
